My name is Deidra Conway, President and CEO of Nzuri by Tavon. Nzuri which means beautiful in Swahili and Tavon derived from my middle name Tavonne, was birthed out of the expression of my moods through the application of lipstick. Being in the aviation industry I began to experiment and purchase many shades of lipstick mixing colors and techniques etc. Depending on how I felt while getting ready for work determined what color lipstick I would wear…it gave me life and added that extra pop to my look! On those not so good days, when I applied the final touch to my look (which was lipstick) my mood and attitude would change, with an extra dose of boldness and confidence……I was ready to get the day started.
I noticed after a while that my colleagues began to compliment my lipsticks, then passengers within the airport would also. The thing that really inspired me was the fact that it wasn’t just women who spoke out about it, men began to comment daily on how they liked the color or technique.
One day while praying I said, “I want to do something that I love” and instantly lipstick came to mind, with the next thought being, “create your own lipstick line”! I began researching immediately and the rest is history.
Having said that, I would like to thank you for visiting my website as well as the opportunity to share my love and passion for lipstick with you. It is my desire that Nzuri does for you what it has done for me and more! To be a brand that evokes a bold and confident beauty with every application…one shade, one lipstick, one consumer at a time.

Nzuri by Tavon is for the consumer who loves to look their absolute best, and is classy but sassy, confident, mature, fierce, young and aspiring. Beauty has no boundaries therefore Nzuri is the must have for all backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. The brand illuminates a beauty from within that exudes boldness and confidence through the application of a high quality, non drying, long lasting, hypo-allergenic, paraben free and cruelty-free lipstick.

Supporting and having a heart for community is just one of my company’s passions.


Having been affected by breast cancer myself, in addition to several family members, it is my desire as founder of Nzuri by Tavon that we are able to positively impact the lives of those affected by this horrible disease.


I’ve seen how breast cancer can destroy a person’s sense of womanhood, self confidence and even temporarily alter their physical appearance. To hear a woman say,” I just don’t feel beautiful”, is heart -wrenching. 


With that in mind , my goal /desire is to be able to assist in not only helping to restore that confidence but to also let them know there is someone that shares that burden and is rooting for them. I want them to know that “You’ve Got This” and you are still beautiful in the midst of it #fightcute. 


Our love for community and support for the fight against breast cancer has placed on our hearts to one day be able to gift away a lipstick with every lipstick purchased, to someone currently fighting this disease.
